MCP Funnel is a TypeScript-based proxy server built by Christoph Schramm that aggregates multiple MCP servers while dramatically reducing context token usage through intelligent tool filtering and dynamic discovery. The implementation features a "hacky discovery" mode that exposes only 3-4 core tools (discover_tools_by_words, get_tool_schema, bridge_tool_request) instead of potentially hundreds from connected servers, allowing AI assistants to search for and dynamically enable only the tools they need at runtime. Built with comprehensive toolset management, pattern-based filtering with wildcard support, real-time web dashboard for monitoring and configuration, and robust error handling with detailed logging, it solves the critical problem of context window bloat when working with many MCP servers simultaneously, making it ideal for production deployments where token efficiency and selective tool exposure are essential for maintaining responsive AI interactions.
